Meet the Maker
Atelier Vipond has been operated by Trevor Vipond in some form since 2012.
A first generation jeweller, Trevor has combined his knowledge of technology with training in classical goldsmithing techniques to create pieces that signify moments in time and capture the imagination. With a focus on quality and longevity, the pieces he creates are meant to last more than a single lifetime, bringing joy to the wearer and those who see it.
Forever having an interest in art and design, Trevor started his professional art career at the University of Victoria. Through an interest in sculpture and all things small and meticulous, he moved on to attend a year long apprenticeship near his hometown where he would fully understand the joys of working with metal. With a desire to improve and refine his skills, Trevor moved to Toronto and attended the 3 year Jewellery Arts program at George Brown College, graduating with strong goldsmithing technique and an eye for jewellery design.
Returning to his home city of Vancouver, BC, Trevor became the lead jewellery designer and model maker at Cavalier, a local custom jewellery store. Over the next 7 years, he would create and produce thousands of pieces, designing them to the clients specifications and aspirations, carefully learning and understanding what goes into making something that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Today, Trevor takes his decade of experience and uses it to design pieces for his own clients, spending time to figure out exactly what it is they want in the pieces he creates for them. He continues to build his skillset through education in techniques such as hand engraving, gem setting, and gemstone cutting, anything to continue elevating the pieces he brings to life.
All pieces are created by Trevor in his private Victoria, BC studio or with help from other local craftspeople.
